DIY: faux beehive

(You can click on the photo to see it a little larger!)

You'll need: hair, a hairband, bobby pins, and a puffy pony

I use the puffy pony tool to secure the bun so it doesn't flop around, and also to give it added height. I think a hair comb would probably work as well.. you can be creative if you don't want to get (or don't already have) this specific tool :)

1. Pull your hair into a very, very high ponytail. 2. Secure tightly with a hairband, leaving the ends of your hair tucked in the back. 3. Tug at the ends of the bun to fan out your hair. 4. Insert the puffy pony (or similar tool) in the back. You want it to go right over your hairband, through the front. It should feel really tight and secure.. if not, try again! This is what keeps the hair from flopping around so it's an important step. 5. Pin all those fly-aways down! 6. Voila! Finished! Leave it as-is, or top it off with an amazing hair bow (mine is from hive & honey!)

It's really easy once you get the hang of it. It takes me 5 minutes tops each morning to style my hair! No hairspray, no teasing, but lots of volume! It gives the appearance of a big beehive or giant bun, but at the end of the day when you take the pins out it's soft manageable hair that you can sleep on ;) Keep in mind, my hair is only about shoulder-length.. you don't really need super long hair to do this style!
