what's in my bag

Hello! I'm trying to get back in the swing of sharing videos and blog posts again, and I started with a new "what's in my bag" video that just went up on my youtube channel right here!

I also posted a Q&A video on my patreon, right here. I got so many fun questions about movies, my closet, Arrietty, my artwork, and more. And I had so much fun answering them all! You can always leave more questions in the comments on my patreon post if you have any, and I'll film a follow up video! :)

It's been a weird couple of months, but I feel like I'm finally getting a handle on things. I'll post more about what's been going on in my next post, but I was accepted to Oregon State University (I'm not moving there, I'm doing it online) and if all goes well I'll have a BA in anthropology by 2021!! In the mean time I'm still kind of scrambling to keep my various shops afloat, and I have SO many new product lines that I'm working on that will hopefully breathe some life into my business. I got a laser cutting machine so I'll be whipping up some wooden and acrylic brooches soon. I have a line of greeting cards hitting the shop next week, and (drum roll) I'm finally going to start offering dresses. I'll be launching the first batch in my shop by the end of the month. So maybe my next outfit post will feature a dress that I actually designed myself!! Pretty nifty :D

video: packing for Disney World!

If you're curious what I decided to pack for my trip to Disney World, here you go! I actually decided what to pack as I was filming this, and ended up adding a few things after I was done.. oops! Assuming I make good on my promise to film a video in Disney you'll likely be seeing what sartorial choices I made and whether or not I decided to dress Cute or Lazy, lol!

This is probably the most fun I've had making a video so far, so I really hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed filming it! And if you do, please consider hopping over to my channel to give it a thumbs up and hopefully subscribe :)

ps. I linked to all of the t-shirts and dresses in the description box on my youtube video :)

video: what's in my emergency travel kit

I just posted a new video on my youtube channel! This one is all about what I pack in my emergency travel kit. It's a little pouch that holds everything I could possibly need (but often forget to pack) on vacation! Hopefully you'll get some ideas for making your own travel kit, too! :)

If you like the video please consider subscribing to my channel right here.

what's in my bag

It's been a really long time since I did a "what's in my bag" post and I thought now that I have a youtube channel it might be fun to do it as a video this time!

I'm still getting the hang of recording videos, I feel like I talk too fast and get out of breath too quick which doesn't happen when I'm talking to humans in real life. And I'm so self conscious of how I look in motion lol! I know I'll get used to it eventually since THIS was my very first outfit post, but right now I'm cringing so much while I edit these! I'm really looking forward to when this feels as natural as taking outfit photos does.

Anyway, here is the video! Please consider subscribing to my channel if you haven't already! :) And for links to the bag and everything in the bag, it's all listed in the description on the video here.

what's in my bag

I'm participating in a photo challenge on instagram this month & today's prompt was to take a picture of what's in your bag -- I figured I might as well share it here, too, since it's been a while since I did one of these posts! You can also look at it on my instagram here if you want to see it twice lol.

I've been going back and forth this summer between a small bag and a satchel, depending on where I'm going. Today I just had to run some errands so I went with a smaller bag from asos. They had SO many amazing scalloped bags earlier this year but it seems like they only have a couple left in stock, not including this one unfortunately :( It's really so perfect for holding a few essentials and the scalloped border is so cute!

Inside I have trident gum, a pocket mirror from sweet and lovely, an ice cream pen that was a gift from Sammi (you can find them in the party section at Target!), a hello kitty pouch that holds a generous supply of extra bobby pins, a tony moly perfume stick, NYX butter lip balm in parfait, my iphone with a floral case from my society6 store, a ban.do back-up charger from modcloth (they only have 5 left in stock!) pink sunglasses from steve madden, bath & body works cupcake antibacterial hand gel, and my yellow scalloped wallet from asos (also not available anymore, at least not in this color.)

what's in my makeup bag

I've flirted with the idea of doing one of these posts for a while but it always seemed kind of silly since I don't really wear anything fancy. My makeup is all from the drugstore and I hardly ever experiment. Except for lipstick and nail polish, which tend to lure me into their trap when I'm passing by the makeup section at Walgreens on my way to pick up milk, I've been buying the same old products for years.

I always start off with under-eye concealer. I started using this one only a few months ago, but it's the same shade I've always used... this just comes in a fancy little bottle with an applicator brush at the top. It's Maybelline Instant Age Rewind concealer in Fair. Then I apply Cover Girl "french vanilla" eyeshadow to my whole eyelids. I used to use bright white when I was going for a really mod look but I've toned it down recently and I like this a lot better! I pencil my lower eyelid rim (is that even what it's called?) with Rimmel waterproof kohl eyeliner in "nude." I swear by this stuff, it makes my eyes look so much more awake!

Then comes my favorite part -- eye liner! *cue cheers and applause* I really love eye liner. I use Maybelline Ultra Liner waterproof black liquid liner. I love the brush that comes with it, it goes on really smooth, it dries really fast, and it stays put all day. I'll be heartbroken if this is ever discontinued! After eyeliner I put on a little mascara. Just enough so my eyelashes are black... I don't really like them to be too long or it distracts from my eyeliner and rubs against my glasses when I blink, lol. I use Maybelline Mega Plush Volum' Express in 'blackest black'.

Lipstick is the only area I really experiment with, though I still tend to stick with bright red and hot pink. Right now I'm using Rimmel Lasting Finish lipstick #110. I'm constantly on the lookout for "Mary Poppins red" --I've always thought Julie Andrews had THE perfect shade of red lipstick in the movie. This particular shade is the closest I've found *and* since it's a Kate Moss line, it has my name on the lipstick tube! I'm probably way more excited about that then I should be.

It's also really light. I hate lipsticks that make you feel like you have a coat of play-doh on your mouth. I can barely tell this is there. I usually put on some Burt's Bees grapefruit lip balm first so my lips don't get dried out from lipstick, and it usually does the trick :)

About 4 years ago I wore lipstick in public for the first time. I can remember the day so vividly! I went to Target with my mom and grandmom. Halfway through our shopping trip I used a tissue to wipe it off. Even though I loved the way it looked, I felt like I was standing out too much.

Now it's part of my daily makeup routine. It's funny how something as seemingly minor as putting on lipstick was such a challenge for me a few years ago. I'm so happy that I've gotten to a point where I'm comfortable being myself, wearing what I like, and putting on lipstick in the brightest shade of red I can find.

ps. my makeup bag is from forever 21 & my glasses are c/o firmoo

what's in my bag

If I ever lost my purse, whoever found it would definitely be able to deduct three things about me: I really love the color pink, Hello Kitty, and cats. ;)

Right now I'm toting around this super awesome cat-shaped bag from OASAP. The pouch on the back is just big enough to carry everything I need -- my wallet (from the Sanrio store in NYC) my sunglasses (from Sweet and Lovely) my glasses case (from Epcot Japan) with my pink glasses inside (from Coastal) Trident gum, hot pink Baby Lips lip balm and my iphone (Hello Kitty case also from Epcot Japan!)

what's in my bag

I love this bag SO much! I missed out when it first went up on Modcloth, but then I was able to snatch one up about a month ago when someone returned theirs (seriously though, who would return this??) It came back in stock again earlier this week and I decided I'd buy another one as a back up in case this one ever fell apart (honest to goodness, I want to use THIS bag for the rest of my life. I just love it so much!) but before I had a chance to purchase, it was discontinued :( I actually e-mailed the designer to ask if it's in stock anywhere else online, so if anyone is interested I'll let you know if I get a reply!

Ok, so now I'll get to what's IN the bag! Of course there's my phone (iphone 4s with a Hello Kitty case I bought in Epcot Japan) and my wallet (pink glitter shell wallet from Five and Below.) Even though my phone can technically serve as an ipod, I also keep my shuffle with me at all times along with my minty green headphones (gift from my brother.) I have a little beaded coin purse (gift from Aunt Annie) that I use to hold my gum. I have apple scented hand sanitizer (Bath & Body Works) and Burt's bees grapefruit lip balm. The sunglasses change constantly but right now I'm wearing my red hearts (from Fred Flare.) Last but not least, a notebook (h&m) and pen to jot down ideas, sketches and grocery lists. It all fits so neatly in my perfect little bag! And I keep all of the paper junk I collect throughout the day (receipts, gum wrappers, etc.) in the zipper compartment so it doesn't mess up the organizational flow ;)
