My top 4 tv characters that I want to hug

There are some tv characters that are so pathetic or sweet or sad or dorky that I just want to reach into my television screen and give them an enormous hug. Basically I think those adjectives apply respectively to Michael Scott from The Office, Marshall from How I Met Your Mother, Mason from Dead Like Me and Fargo from Eureka. (If you've been watching Eureka lately you'll understand why I think Fargo needs a giant hug!) Actually I think all four descriptions would apply to Michael Scott... he can be a little mean sometimes (cough, Toby, cough) but at heart I think he's just a pathetic, sweet, sad, dorky boy. Any tv characters you'd like to wrap your arms around and give them a little squeeze? :)

Happy Birthday Casey!!

Happy Birthday to one of my absolute best friends in the whole wide world, Casey! I tried making my own Astreus ship, plugging in the coordinates of the Eureka set in hopes of wrapping up Zane and giving him to you as a birthday present but unfortunately Beverly highjacked my mission and I wound up in Singapore instead with a drug dealing hotel escort named Ah-Mezzi! Anyway, I hope this picture will suffice instead! ;D

Pink and teal is my favorite color combination, so with pink hair I'm tempted to wear some shade of teal every single day of my life. I'm also tempted to never leave my bedroom ever again, because my hair and clothing looks so pretty against my teal and pink walls. I'm going to turn into one of those people whose personal appearance matches their house. I think it's cool now, but if I ever dye Hypatia's fur pink somebody help me!!!!! ;-D (By the way, I'm totally kidding.. if I ever had to limit my wardrobe to one single color I'd probably go crazy. haha!)

ps. I found out last night that my favorite tv show Eureka was canceled :( I started a fb page to ask SyFy not to cancel it, so if you could 'like' it I'd really appreciate it! I'm pretty positive they won't listen, but it doesn't hurt, right? :(

Two weeks ago I watched the live broadcast of ACME Saturday Night on UStream because Colin Ferguson was guest-hosting. The skits that he participated in were hilarious, but this one in particular was so funny I literally had tears rolling down my cheeks. The scene takes place in 2009, when Colin Ferguson is meeting with his agent to discuss some parts he was offered -- The King's Speech, 127 Hours, True Grit and Lake Placid 3, with him choosing the latter. The premise isn't really new ... I've listened to quite a few Jack Benny episodes in which he recounts passing on Oscar-winning films in favor of The Horn Blows at Midnight, a notorious failure. But this skit is just so hilarious, the lack of originality is a moot point.

Naturally I probably find it more funny than everyone else will because I'm a fan of Colin Ferguson, but I don't think you need to be to get a kick of out it. It's only about 5 minutes long, and I promise they'll be 5 minutes well spent! :)

In the last week, I have become utterly, hopelessly, wonderfully in love with the SyFy show Eureka. It's about a town of geniuses who work for the government to create the newest cutting edge technology, whether it's medicine and cellular technology or nuclear weapons. The town sheriff, Jack Carter (played by Colin Ferguson, who is so brilliant --and so cute-- I feel like squealing each time he's on screen) is not a genius, but he more than makes up for his intellectual shortcomings with his wit, common sense and spot-on hunches. The show is part drama, part comedy ... the overall storyline is serious, but each episode has more than enough humor to keep it light. Even when a computer malfunction triggers a 24 hour countdown to planetary destruction, there are still jokes all around. It's geeky, but grounded. I mean seriously.. if I could marry a tv show, I would be Mrs. Eureka by now. I'm just so head over heels.

So, you're probably wondering by now.. "why are you posting this on sunday funnies day, Kate?" Glad you asked. It's partially because I couldn't contain my excitement any longer, and my family locked me in my room until I promised I'd stop talking about Eureka (I'm exaggerating, but they'll probably resort to that soon.) But it's also because this one clip from an episode I watched tonight struck me as so hilarious that I had to share it. I don't know if it is as amusing without the backstory of the episode (short story: contaminated meat makes all of the geniuses temporarily super stupid) but to me it was spit-out-your-grapefruit-juice, hyperventilating kind of funny. But then I'm sort of high on Eureka love, so I might be a bit biased ;-D
