A little while ago Hanes contacted me to see if I'd like to participate in a facebook challenge where you take a photo of an outfit without stockings, and another photo of the same outfit with stockings. I thought it sounded like fun, so this is my submission! If you want, you can vote which photo has stockings and which doesn't on their facebook page, here!

I wear tights a lot but I haven't worn stockings too much since I thought they were all like those drugstore ones that make you look like you're either pale as a ghost or have an orangey fake tan on your legs. These really matched my skin tone, though, and I've been wearing them out a lot recently. The weather is in that in-between stage where tights are a little too thick but I'm just not ready for bare legs yet, so these are perfect! And (knock on wood) they haven't snagged yet, which is a miracle. I have wooden kitchen table chairs and a cat that likes to bite at my legs (Hubble) so hosiery that lasts over a week without getting nicked, pulled or ripped is pretty rare lol ;D Also.. not gonna lie, the fact that they make my legs look airbrushed smooth is definitely a bonus.

Every morning when I wake up, Hypatia starts meowing at me and doesn't stop until I lead her downstairs to give her breakfast. Once Chloe hears the frantic meows and the cat food cabinet door swinging open, she comes jaunting over as well, calmly waiting for her food while Hypatia goes hoarse meowing so much. And they always act like they're meeting each other for the first time... sniffing each other and looking like "what is that furry thing?"

Yesterday morning I decided to capture it on camera, and I'm SO glad I did! Usually they turn off the charm when the camera turns on, but this time they were super cute (and Hypatia was super talkative!) so I had to share it! This is how I start each day! :)

ps. The reason I took so long feeding them after I opened the can (which itself took forever because I was trying to do it with one hand while the other hand held my camera lol) is because Hypatia has to have medicine mixed into her portion.

The last time I wore this dress, I also wore it with blue... not very creative, but I just think it matches the black and white so well! These particular tights were a gift from We Love Colors (excitement galore!!) and I thought that this shade, paired with the red belt, was very Une Femme est Une Femme, no?! (Am I going overboard on the French this week?)

Speaking of movies which star Anna Karina, I did this painting a couple weeks ago, based on a still of Anna in Vivre Sa Vie. I feel like such a stupid goofball when I like my own artwork, but ugh.. I kind of adore it :p It just fits in my room so perfectly (see it peeking above my head in the outfit pictures, in the top left corner?) and I love that I didn't have to pay $90 for a poster of her, when I could paint one instead :D

I love being able to just throw on a dress and sandals in the summer, but I am going to miss wearing tights SO much!! They add so much to an outfit, and often tie the whole thing together. New Jersey summers are just way too hot for me to wear them though. Even if I found extra lightweight ones, I'd be pulling them off by midday. I'd obviously never make it in a place like Arizona... they'd probably think I'm a baby for calling 90 degree weather hot lol ;-)

stockings, not of the fireplace variety

I love love love tights and stockings! Colorful, patterned, seamed and plain old black. And this time of year, when the temperature is hovering around freezing, they are the difference between having icicles for legs or just being chilly.

I have tons of them, in almost every color I can think of, but the one kind I'm missing (and really really want) are sweater tights .. the cable knit design just screams "warm and toasty" to me! Not sure where to find them though.. I've looked all over the place and the only ones I found (at Kmart of all places) were just plain black. I really want gray or brown or maybe cream... suggestions are very welcome! :)
