my summer playlist

I used to share monthly playlists here when I first started my blog, but that wore off quickly when I realized that I pretty much listen to the same songs over and over again, haha! My favorites haven't changed a lot over the years but I have added some new songs to the mix and I'm really loving my itunes playlist at the moment! I uploaded it to 8tracks so you can have a listen too if you'd like! Here's the link to listen, and here's the tracklist:

1. Crush on You // The Clash
2. Satin Chic // Goldfrapp
3. It's All Over Now, Baby Blue // Bryan Ferry
4. Fallin // Connie Francis
5. Worker's Song // Dropkick Murphys
6. I'll Be Seeing You // Francoise Hardy & Iggy Pop
7. Dark Streets of London // The Pogues
8. Paris 1919 // John Cale
9. Smoke Gets in Your Eyes // Serge Gainsbourg
10. Atmosphere // Joy Division
11. The Crane Wife // Marianne Faithfull
12. Lullaby of London // The Pogues (my favorite song ever!)
13. If There is Something // Roxy Music
14. Sunday Girl // She & Him
15. Back to Black // Bryan Ferry
16. Apeman // The Kinks
17. Breaking No One's Heaven // Peter Murphy
18. After Hours // Velvet Underground
19. Wait for me Down by the River // Marianne Faithfull
20. Ceremony // New Order

The Back to Black track is really low for some reason, I can barely hear it unless I turn up my volume.. but it's so good I had to include it anyway :) Also the drawing at the top is from my etsy shop :)

summerwind

dress & belt - forever 21
cardigan - old navy
tights and shoes - h&m

I'm very much a fall-and-winter sort of person, but for some reason I'm really excited about summer this year. I'm not sure what's come over me but I'm absolutely itching to spend my summer the way I did when I was a kid. Watching cartoons in the morning while drinking chocolate milk; going outside for a while to play with sidewalk chalk before getting too hot and rushing in the house, making a beeline straight for the nearest air conditioning vent. Forts made out of blankets, my mom's homemade lemonade and iced tea, swimming, grilled veggies and (boca) burgers for dinner, being covered head to toe in mosquito bites.

I usually have way too much going on to make this a reality, but I'm tempted to see if this summer I can jam all of my to-do-list items into a few hours each morning, then spend the rest of the day enjoying a pseudo-summer vacation..

citrus punch

cardigan - old navy
belt - from another dress
dress - c/o romwe
shoes - urbanog

Lime, lemon and orange! yum!! So many things about summer frustrate me (bugs, the heat, noisy lawnmowers, not being able to wear tights...) but one thing that I loooove is fresh fruit! There is nothing I enjoy more than a nice juicy nectarine or a carton of bright red strawberries! Ooh and grapes. And of course grapefruit!! ;D

dots and dots

dress worn as a top - elizabeth coletta
skirt and belt - h&m
red shoes - asos

Geez louise, did anyone else have a major heatwave yesterday? (Is it technically a heatwave if it lasts one day?) It was over 90 degrees here, which is absurd for April... luckily I didn't have to go out much so I got to stay inside with the a/c cranked up to cardigan levels. I don't think I'd mind hot weather so much if it wasn't so sticky and the air wasn't quite so thick!

By the way, if someone forced me at cheese-point* to pick my favorite outfit so far this year, this would be it. You know, in case you were wondering.

*I really don't like cheese.

walking on air

dress - vintage
shoes - blowfish

First, I just want to thank everyone for the incredibly sweet comments on my post yesterday! I'm really excited, yet simultaneously terrified and I know that having you guys here for me when I make the big move will make it much easier! :)

These are by far the most comfortable heels I've ever purchased in my entire life. I couldn't believe how light they were when I put them on! It's seriously like walking on air. Even though I wear heels in most of my photos, I'm much more of a flats girl, just because of the comfort factor. I love being able to run around without being afraid I'll fall and break my nose ;) But these remind me of those giant foam platform flip flops that were popular when I was about 15, only much better looking! I can definitely see myself wearing them every day, all summer long!

Oh, I added a new little feature on my blog called the question of the day. Here's the story behind it: I visit tons of blogs every morning, probably at least 20, sometimes more, but I hardly ever leave comments. (I've written about my commenting paralysis here before) I just can never think of anything to say that doesn't sound redundant or stupid... so I thought, maybe other people have this same dilemma! Enter: Question of the Day! Each day I'll have a fun question at the bottom of my post, so if you want to leave a comment but can't think of a darned thing to say, this should help ;)

Do you want to comment, but have no idea what to say? Trust me, I've been there! So to make things a little easier, here is a question you can answer if you can't think of anything else to say! :)

Do you prefer Peeps, Chocolate or Eggs at Easter? You can also answer "all three" ;)

posh frock friday

dress - modcloth
balloon sleeve bodysuit - boohoo
belt - h&m
tights - h&m
shoes - charlotte russe
sunglasses - fred flare

I love being able to just throw on a dress and sandals in the summer, but I am going to miss wearing tights SO much!! They add so much to an outfit, and often tie the whole thing together. New Jersey summers are just way too hot for me to wear them though. Even if I found extra lightweight ones, I'd be pulling them off by midday. I'd obviously never make it in a place like Arizona... they'd probably think I'm a baby for calling 90 degree weather hot lol ;-)

If you participated in posh frock friday this week, you can leave your link below! Don't forget you can also grab a PFF button for your blog, to link back here :)
