she's filled with secrets

I loved my outfit today but before I finally had time to snap some pictures the sun was already on its way out. I'm usually a little obsessive about my pictures coming out really light and bright, but for some reason I kind of like the effect the sunset has here. The long moody shadows are probably better suited to this particular outfit anyway, with its muted color palette and mysterious Twin Peaks brooch.

I finished Mockingjay this morning (I ended up liking the first two Hunger Games books much more than the last, but I still really enjoyed it) so I'm going to go to the library tomorrow with a list of books from the comments on Wednesday's post. Thank you so much for all of the suggestions!

My top five favorite: Twin Peaks actors in other tv shows

1. Dennis (Denise) Bryson // Fox Mulder on The X-Files

2. Laura Palmer // Ellie Harp on One Tree Hill

3. Shelly Johnson // Andrea Rhodes on Mad Men

4. Dale Cooper // The Captain on How I Met Your Mother

5. Audrey Horne // Ginger on Friends

It seems like Twin Peaks people pop up in every single show I watch, so I thought I'd round up my favorites! Number one is obviously Fox Mulder, since The X-Files is my favorite tv show (technically Twin Peaks came first, so he was a Twin Peaks actor in another series, but to me, since I watched TXF first he was an X-Files actor in Twin Peaks. Tohmayto-Tomahto) but I think my favorite of the batch is probably Kyle MacLachlan playing The Captain. His episodes crack me up so much (I love the whole "mouth is smiling, eyes want to kill you" thing) that he was definitely my favorite HIMYM guest star.

Soo these are my top five, what are yours? :)

the great northern

I've recently become overwhelming smitten with Twin Peaks. My parents recommended it to me, and since I think they pretty much have the best taste in the world when it comes to music, movies and tv, I took their advice and set myself up with season 1 a couple weeks ago. As usual when I get hooked on a new-to-me show, I breezed through the whole thing in about a weeks time. And WOW. I can totally understand now why it has such a devoted cult following. It's one of those shows you just can't get off your mind. I've dreamt about it quite a few times now (thank goodness I haven't had any scary Bob dreams yet, but I know they're bound to show up eventually) and even came up with an idea for a new flapper doodle painting with a Twin Peaks theme. I'm totally hooked.

I waited until I had finished the last episode of the last season to do any digging online, to make sure I didn't accidentally glimpse any spoilers. After imdb, wikipedia and some fan sites, I searched on etsy to see if anyone had any cool fan art... and low and behold I found these amazing cross-stitch and embroidery pieces from a Twin Peaks themed etsy shop brilliantly titled The Great Northern! Totally amazing! I'm thinking I might need to snatch one up, and I'm leaning towards the coincidence & fate piece. But how awesome would it be to have a whole series of them displayed together?!
