my first thrifting find!

skirt - thrifted!
shirt - h&m
shrug - forever 21
belt - from my grandmom
shoes - kling

So many bloggers I love always find the most amazing things at thrift stores, so I've been going more often to try to find some of my own treasures, too. And I always fail miserably. I don't know if I'm just missing the "amazing thrift find" radar, or if all of the stores in my area have a consistently hideous selection, but I've always come up dry on all of my trips. Until now! I went to Goodwill with my dad a couple weeks ago and found this fantastic 70's skirt. I love the thin, soft denim fabric and the pretty white embroidery at the bottom. But what I love even more? The $2 price tag! woo hoo! I think it was worth all the unsuccessful trips to find something unique and wonderful at such a stupendously low price :)

falling short

coat - forever 21
faux fur collar - h&m
dress - forever 21
tights - we love colors
shoes - h&m
hair bow - hive & honey

I look so short here! I think it's the coat. Anyway, I wore this to go to the thrift store with my dad on Saturday. We got there about 30 minutes before they closed, but I probably managed to scour at least 1/2 the store before we left. The thrift stores in my area seem to have a "1990's or later-only" policy or something because I usually can't even find any old 80's stuff... mostly just cheap mass produced junk from the last 10-15 years. But this time I did manage to find a belt, an old sheet that I'm going to use for a project, a ginormous old 70's cross-stitch with (I think) Hebrew writing, and a grapefruit colored sweater. When I got up to the register, though, I found out when I tried to pay with debit card that it was cash-only, and my dad only had $4 on him. So I had to put back the cross-stitch and the sweater. Then as we were leaving I saw an ATM... super nice of the lady at the counter to tell me about it, right? Oh well. Better luck next time!

treasure hunt

dress - forever 21
belt - forever 21
shoes - modcloth

I got this cellphone handset last week and decided it would be super neat to get an old vintage rotary phone to store it on! So this weekend we headed out to the flea market to look for one. I haven't been vintage shopping in ages, and I had so much fun! I found my phone, and some other vintage goodies too! I got two 70's pots, a classic movie picture book, a super funky bright necklace, and a set of frog salt and pepper shakers. I also *finally* got the funnel cake I've been craving for the last two months. Along with a jumbo cup of fresh lemonade! yum!

I'm going to paint a pink stripe on the cream phone so that it matches my pink handset, and hang it on the wall in my new apartment!! I'm not going to have a landline, so I'll be using my iphone for all of my calls, and I love that this handset reduces 99% of the radiation emitted from the phone. I'll feel a lot better about using it so often now!

ps. If my hair looks slightly different it's because I dyed it ... again... when I went to fix the bottom, I ended up re-dying the top, too, so it's much lighter than it was last week. It's a wee bit too blonde for my taste (more obvious in person than in these photos), but I really love it! It's definitely a work in progress, but I'm really happy with it :-) Also I *love* the way it looks with bright pink lipstick!!

Do you want to comment, but have no idea what to say? Trust me, I've been there! So to make things a little easier, here is a question you can answer if you can't think of anything else to say! :)

What is your favorite flea market find?
