everyday is a holiday (+ a giveaway!) [closed]

If you aren't already familiar with Jenny and Aaron from Everyday is a Holiday you need to scoot over to their blog and shop right this second (well, finish this post, enter the giveaway and *then* scoot over ;) They are a super sweet duo who make pastel art confections on the Jersey shore (I have their artwork sprinkled all over my apartment -- including the apple pie painting in my outfit photos!) and they recently released their first book. I had the pleasure of getting a copy to test out one of their adorable DIY projects and I'm head over heels with how my first project turned out!

I made the Fauxbulous Keepsake Cake -- yup, you read that right. Faux. The cake in the picture above is fake! Doesn't it look delicious? I have to keep reminding myself it's not edible because it just looks so darn yummy. And it was so easy to whip it up! I think I might even make a couple more and have a display of faux cakes in my kitchen at all times. What a perfect kitchen decoration, right?!

All of the projects in the book are perfectly pastel, beautifully photographed and just so, so sweet. Jenny and Aaron did such an amazing job and I have secondhand giddiness, I'm just so excited for them! The book is available on amazon here! You can also try your luck at winning a copy below! :)

If you try out any projects from the book, make sure to post them on instagram with the hashtag #mixedmediamasterpieces so Jenny and Aaron can see your handiwork! :)

What you'll win: A copy of Mixed Media Masterpieces with Jenny & Aaron

How to enter: To enter simply leave a comment letting me know what flavor you'd make your faux cake! And I need some way to contact you (twitter, e-mail, your blog.. whatever floats your boat!) Also, you must be a follower of this blog to enter! This is mandatory, too! (And, please, none of this follow-and-leave as soon as the giveaway is over jazz.. that's super rude!)

For additional entries: (leave a separate comment for each entry)
1. Tweet this "I just entered to win a copy of Mixed Media Masterpieces on @kategabrielle's blog http://www.scathingly-brilliant.blogspot.com" (Only counts if you use that exact tweet. Entries from twitter accounts used for the sole purpose of entering giveaways will not be counted.)
2. Follow Jenny on instagram
3. Follow Everyday is a Holiday

This giveaway ends on 12/26/13 at 12:01AM EST. Giveaway has ended.

saturday in new york

On Saturday I spent the day in New York with Polly from The Littlest Polly! We went to the Museum of Modern Art about an hour before closing but somehow managed to see practically every floor! We had so much fun! Polly is a huge Andy Warhol fan and got to see a bunch of his works, and I was gawking in disbelief at some of the really famous paintings they had on display (Starry Night?!?) I was an art history major in college but I hardly ever find time to go to museums anymore, so this was a rare treat.

I just had such a fun time. I'm always nervous when I'm meeting internet friends for the first time in real life, but Polly is so incredibly sweet and friendly that I forgot about being nervous pretty much instantly. I always thought she seemed like one of the most awesome girls on the internet and she's even more awesome in person! I can't wait to hang out again :)

I look like such a dork in basically every photo from Saturday but oh well!  My dress is an old one from Romwe, shoes are urban outfitters, belt is from another dress and the glasses are from firmoo. The tote bag is my Hypatia bag from sweet and lovely.

Polly is so sweet and SO fun! I'm a little (ok a lot) jealous of her posing instincts and ridiculous eye for color pairing. If you aren't already familiar with her blog, get over there right now. Seriously just skip the rest of this post. GO.

Looking like a dweeb next to Starry Night.

See what I mean with the cute posing? ah!

tidbits

Mandy from Miss Indie just opened up an online shop, Indie Darling! She has hairbows. Incredibly cute hairbows. Be still my heart! And she's offering 25% off with the code SB25!! I want one of each!!

Becca from Nattosoup did this amazing portrait of me! eep! Isn't it lovely!? It's making me miss my pink hair even more :) She does commissions, so you can have your own portrait done, too! Or it would make a really cute gift for the holidays! She has more information about her commission work here!

Kaelah just released an e-book jam-packed with advice for bloggers on marketing, public relations and more. My wallet is a little sore from my Disney trip right now but you can bet your buttons I'm planning on buying a copy as soon as my balance is back to normal. I already know that it'll be informative in a down to earth, fun way! I can't wait to read it :) You can snag a copy on her blog, here!

oh my gosh!

Elycia did a drawing of me!!! :D I'm so giddy and and thrilled and excited, it's just so perfect! And I'm wearing one of my homemade dresses!!! :D And my wonderful white hair bow that I love ever so much!!! :D

I can't believe I only just noticed ... I read Love Elycia religiously (like, I visit so often it's one of my "top sites" on safari) and this was posted on the day I was at the hospital with my mom (pretty much the one day all year that I didn't read any blogs) ... So today when I was stalking reading her latest posts and saw a little pink bun with a white bow in a related post link, I thought "oh. my. gosh. that looks familiar!" and it was me!! :D eeep!

Thank you so much Elycia!! <3
