polka dots and feathers

Today is one of those days where I really can't think of a thing to write about. The last couple days were wasted on obsessively tracking a lost USPS package (which finally showed up today, hallelujah!) And although it seriously took over my life for a few days, it isn't all that riveting a blog topic. I will say this though -- if you're thinking of starting your own online shop and it involves shipping, be prepared for a TON of shipping related headaches. I swear it's probably the one major cause of stress in my life.

Other than that.. hmm.. I've been watching a ton of Bones while I work. It's in that phase where I've started dreaming about the show because I'm watching it so much. Does that ever happen to you when you binge watch things? It seems to mostly happen to me with dramas, like if I watch a ton of 30 Rock I don't start dreaming about working at NBC (I wish!) but if I'm overdoing it on LOST episodes all of a sudden I'm dreaming about being stuck on an island with a scary smoke monster. Terrific! ;)

sleeve me alone

Look at these sleeves! ahh! I've been obsessed with bell sleeves for a really long time. I remember in middle school I went back to school shopping at Kohls and found this one shirt that I loved so much my mom got it for me in three different colors. It has 3/4 sleeves with big bells on the ends and it came in white, black and red. It's another one of those "why on earth did I get rid of it?!" things. Teenage Kate had no sense of what should be saved and what shouldn't. ugh!

Anyway, this dress more than makes up for losing the shirts. I also recently ordered this one from Emerging Thoughts. It's mint green lace -- be still my heart! I really hope this is a new trend so I can stock up a bit before it disappears into fashion oblivion for another decade.

what's in my bag

I'm participating in a photo challenge on instagram this month & today's prompt was to take a picture of what's in your bag -- I figured I might as well share it here, too, since it's been a while since I did one of these posts! You can also look at it on my instagram here if you want to see it twice lol.

I've been going back and forth this summer between a small bag and a satchel, depending on where I'm going. Today I just had to run some errands so I went with a smaller bag from asos. They had SO many amazing scalloped bags earlier this year but it seems like they only have a couple left in stock, not including this one unfortunately :( It's really so perfect for holding a few essentials and the scalloped border is so cute!

Inside I have trident gum, a pocket mirror from sweet and lovely, an ice cream pen that was a gift from Sammi (you can find them in the party section at Target!), a hello kitty pouch that holds a generous supply of extra bobby pins, a tony moly perfume stick, NYX butter lip balm in parfait, my iphone with a floral case from my society6 store, a ban.do back-up charger from modcloth (they only have 5 left in stock!) pink sunglasses from steve madden, bath & body works cupcake antibacterial hand gel, and my yellow scalloped wallet from asos (also not available anymore, at least not in this color.)

time machine to the 90s

If you follow me on instagram you might have seen my sneak peek of this product, along with the caption "coming next week" ... a whopping 17 weeks ago. eek!

I've (obviously) been working on this for a quite a while and I'm so excited! I wanted to create a product that would feel like an actual time machine -- not just an item but an experience. When you first open the package, you'll see a link to a 90s playlist to listen to while you start looking through your time machine. The kit includes all of the sights, sounds, tastes and even smells needed to transport you back to your childhood.

I don't want to give much away since I think it would ruin the initial experience of reliving things that have been absent in your life for the last 20 years (or if you're an 00s kid with an affection for the 90s, experiencing these things for the very first time!) But suffice to say, there's candy and a boy band poster in every single box. The rest is like a mystery airhead candy -- you'll just have to open the package to find out what's inside! ;)
